Course Title: Basic Rotary Endo Hands-on with Prof. P. van der Vyver
Intended Audience: General Practitioners
Purpose of Course:
This intensive half day hands on course is the perfect basis for dentist looking to move from hand files to Rotary files and incorporating the latest endodontic technologies directly into your practice.
Key Outcomes (learning objectives):
Upon completion of this half day hands on workshop the participating clinicians should understand:
Session 1 – Managing Access, location of canals and negotiation of root canals
· Using access burs to create ideal access openings.
· How to negotiate root canals to full working length.
· Have gained practical experience using Access Burs. X-Gate and C+ Files
Session 2 – Shaping and cleaning Root Canals using ProTaper Universal System
· Have gained practical experience using Pathfiles to create a Glide Path.
· Have gained practical experience using rotary (ProTaper) instruments.
Course Delivery (lecture, hands on): Hands-on
Pre-course Requirements:
(a) 1 extracted, un-accessed, closed apex teeth (that can be root treated) (preferably a premolar or molar with straight root canals - no wisdom teeth). Please do not mount your teeth in plaster or impression material, special holders will be provided.
(b) A sharp Endo probe and tweezers.
